Navy arrests 6 suspects in Bayelsa with illegally refined diesel


The Nigeria Navy says its personnel of Operation Delta Sanity have apprehended 6 suspects in 6 passenger boats in Otuokpoti, Bayelsa State, while conveying sacks and jerrycans of illegally refined diesel.

The Navy, in a statement on its verified Facebook on Sunday, said:  “Operation DELTA SANITY: On Thursday, 19 December 2024, Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH intercepted and apprehended 6 suspects in 6 passenger boats conveying sacks and jerrycans of illegally refined AGO in Otuokpoti, Bayelsa State.

“Consequently, the suspects were handed over to personnel of Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps Headquarters, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The operatives of the Nigerian Navy have made significant arrests over the years. However, some personnel died while fighting the oil thieves.
