Buhari, Kachikwu meet behind closed doors

In the wake of the personality clash between two heavy weights in the country’s oil sector, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, Friday, held a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

The minister arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 11.40am for the meeting. He subsequently met with the president behind closed doors.

Approached for his reaction after the meeting with the President, Kachikwu declined to disclose his discussions with Buhari. Walking with the presidential spokesman Femi Adesina, the minister simply said “no comments”, and left the Villa at about 12.50pm.

In a memo leaked days earlier, the minister had accused Baru of insubordination, and among other things awarding huge contracts without following due process.

He had had written to Buhari complaining about Baru’s conduct in his management of  NNPC.

Meanwhile, Baru joined President Buhari to observe the Juma’at service at the Presidential Villa, Abuja Friday.

Baru arrived the Villa shortly after Kachikwu had met with President Buhari.

He was first sighted at the Vice-President’s Wing of the Presidential Villa before he proceeded to the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.

After his meeting with Kyari, Baru joined Buhari and Muslim faithful to observe the Juma’at service in a Mosque inside the Presidential Villa.
