Spiritual leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has predicted that former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, will emerge as Nigeria’s next president in the 2027 election.
Speaking during the affirmation of consensus aspirants for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, in Kano State, Kwankwaso expressed confidence in Obi’s ability and political dexterity.
He reaffirmed his readiness to mobilizse support for the NDC in Kano.
Kwankwaso described the consensus process as proof of unity and internal democracy within the party.
He said the emergence of consensus candidates across constituencies showed strong cohesion among members, noting that the exercise was peaceful despite multiple aspirants in several areas.
“Some constituencies had more than 10 aspirants, but stakeholders reached agreement through consensus-building,” he said.
“I’m talking about Peter Obi. He will be flying our flag, and by the grace of God, on May 29, exactly one year from now, he will have been sworn in as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Kwankwaso declared.
He commended party leaders, elders and supporters in Kano for a smooth selection process, calling the outcome a product of cooperation and political maturity.
At the event, former Kano Deputy Governor Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo was affirmed as NDC’s governorship candidate, while Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna emerged as senatorial candidate for Kano Central. Other candidates were also affirmed for House of Representatives, State Assembly and senatorial districts ahead of 2027.
Kwankwaso appreciated members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, CRC, Lafiya Jari groups and the New Nigeria Peoples Party for their commitment throughout the exercise.
After his affirmation, Gwarzo pledged an inclusive, open-door administration if elected in 2027 and urged youths to remain committed to the party’s objectives.
