Woman rescued after jumping into Lagos lagoon from Carter Bridge

Local fishermen, on Tuesday, rescued a women after she reportedly jumped into the lagoon from the Idumota-Carter Bridge in Lagos.

A video of the incident, shared on X by user @ChuksErice, showed the woman moments after she was brought out of the water.

She was seen seated in a wooden canoe as one of the fishermen paddled away from the bridge. The woman appeared dazed in the aftermath of the incident.

The incident drew the attention of passers-by, many of whom stopped on the bridge to watch and speculate about what may have led to the incident.

In the video, a woman speaking in Yoruba was heard asking, “What were you thinking to that extent?”

Another bystander remarked: “I can never take my own life because of worries,” while someone else replied: “Pray you are never faced with such a situation.”

As of the time of filing this report, the circumstances surrounding the incident had not been established, and there was no official information on the woman’s condition after she was rescued.
