The University of Calabar (UNICAL), Cross River State, has lauded an expert in counseling, Professor Ngozi Orarenren, for the impactful contributions she has made in her chosen career both in Nigeria and abroad.
In practical appreciation of her outstanding contributions, UniCal has, therefore, slated to honour her with the ‘Face of UNICAL’ award during the commemoration of the institution’s 50th anniversary.
Osarenren, an alumnus of the University of Calabar, is currently a Professor of Counseling, Faculty of Education, at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
The letter from the authorities of UNICAL notifying her of the award was dated January 25, 2025, and titled:
Nomination for ‘Face of UNICAL @ 50 Award’
It stated thus:
On behalf of Council, the Vice Chancellor and the Senate of the University of Calabar, we write to notify you of your nomination by the Central Planning Committee and Unical Alumni Association for the conferment of an award as the “Face of Unical @ 50” in commemoration of the Golden Jubilee Anniversary of the University (1975-2025).
In nominating you for this prestigious award, the University has considered your success in using the knowledge/skills acquired in the university in your chosen filed/professional career.
The University also notes the worthy manner you have flown the flag of integrity for the University both in Nigeria and abroad; your past/future contributions to the development of your Alma mater (Unical) and your pride as an alumnus.
Kindly confirm your acceptance of this nomination by forwarding to the office of the undersigned a photo of you, a resume of your CV for citation and publication in the UNICAL @ 50 WHITE BOOK and Unical Hall of Fame.
The award shall be formally presented to you by the Vice Chancellor at the forthcoming Unical @ 50 celebration scheduled to hold between 17th and 23rd of March, 2025.
