UI okays 1st Class graduates, a select few to attend 2021 convocation ceremony

The management of the University of Ibadan (UI) has announced that the graduands of the institution without the First Class honours would not be allowed to attend the 2021 convocation ceremonies physically.

The information was contained in a statement released Wednesday by the institution.

The statement said that those without First Class should join the convocation ceremonies holding between November 15 and 17 online.

According to it, the decision is in compliance with the COVID-19 protocols.

Only the award winners would be allowed access into the convocation hall, while parents and visitors are to stay away also.

“Attendance at the International Conference Centre is open to First Class Honours graduands and recipients of prizes and awards only.

“Parents and visitors are not allowed into the campus neither will there be any form of party or social gathering during the period.

“All graduands are to comply with the COVID-19 protocols, including wearing of face masks, physical distancing and use of hand sanitizer.

“All graduands are expected to pay the levies as stipulated whether or not they attend the convocation ceremonies as these will be required at the point of collection of the certificate,” the statement concluded.
