Soldiers raid Delta ‘Yahoo academy’, arrest over 100 suspected fraudsters

Military personnel from the 3 Battalion Nigerian Army Barracks in Effurun, Delta State, have arrested more than 100 youths suspected to be internet fraudsters during a raid on a facility known as ‘Hustle Kingdom’, believed to be a training academy for cybercriminals.

The Army Estate, where the raid took place, is a residential area primarily for retired military officers and civilians. The operation followed intelligence reports revealing the existence of an academy for training internet fraudsters.

Reports indicate that after months of surveillance on the activities of the individuals involved, armed soldiers conducted the raid early Saturday morning, rounding up over 100 suspects.

Further reports suggest that the alleged owner of the academy and his accomplices were apprehended during the operation.

“The soldiers acted on intelligence reports,” one source confirmed.

Following the raid, military authorities at the 3 Battalion Barracks handed over the suspects to the police at Ekpan in Uvwie for prosecution after proper profiling.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrests but did not provide more details.
