- Amid injuries from US-Israel weekend attack
Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, the wife of Iran’s slain Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has reportedly died in Tehran.
Bagherzadeh reportedly died after succumbing to injuries she sustained in a joint United States–Israeli military strike, Iranian state media reported on Monday.
Iranian news outlets said that Bagherzadeh, 79, had been in a coma since Saturday after the US and Israeli air campaign struck multiple targets in and around the Iranian capital, killing her husband and other senior officials.
Born in Mashhad, Iran, Bagherzadeh was married to Khamenei in 1965 and was a prominent figure within Iran’s clerical elite as the leader’s wife for more than three decades.
