Senate okays N7.44tr spending in 2017 budget

The Senate has finally passed the 2017 Appropriation Bill, more than four months after it was submitted to it by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The House of Representatives had earlier passed the 2017 budget in the green chambers. The lower house of legislature adopted the report by its House committee on appropriation and approved a total of ₦7. 44 trillion.

After an executive session that lasted almost an hour, the senate on its part Thursday, considered the report by its own appropriations committee led by Senator Danjuma Goje. The Senate dissolved into the Committee of Supply to consider the report clause by clause and passed the budget. The Senate’s official news source confirmed the development.
