The Senate is taking steps to strengthen public senior secondary education in Nigeria through improved collaboration between the Federal and State governments and relevant education authorities.
The move is aimed at ensuring better coordination in the allocation of resources and the provision of interventions to address infrastructure deficits and inadequate learning facilities in public secondary schools.
Leading debate on a bill seeking to amend the National Senior Secondary Education Act, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele said the proposed legislation would address critical gaps in infrastructure and learning resources affecting the sector.
The amendment is expected to improve coordination among relevant authorities and strengthen efforts to enhance the quality of education in public senior secondary schools across the country.
