As the blame game continues over the Shehu Abdullahi saga, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Secretary General, Muhammed Sanus,i has for the umpteenth time washed his hands off some media reports claiming that he received the letter from world football governing body FIFA regarding the illegibility of Shehu Abdullahi to play the world cup qualifying game between Nigeria and
Algeria.
The Sec. Gen. denied receiving the purported letter informing the football house that the defender who is on two yellow cards before the Nigeria/Algeria is not qualified to feature in the match. Abdullahi’s involvement in the match resulted in Algeria being awarded the maximum three points and Nigeria receiving fine of six thousand Swiss Francs and a deduction of three points.
Answering questions in a monitored radio programme, Sanusi said there is no way he will received such letter and not ensure that the relevant department act on it. He said before the incident, two people were manning the ICT department of the football house until one of them was moved to the accounts section because he read accounting. He said even though a committee has been set up to look at the issue, the football house is doing a re-organization of some departments in the
NFF. He said the publication in a national newspaper in which he owned up to receiving the letter from FIFA, was an act of mischief from people who want to tarnish his image.
