Roti, six other Nigerian movies to feature at Africa International Film Festival

This year’s Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) which is billed to hold in Lagos will witness an exceptional taste of explosive movies from movie practitioners in Africa and beyond. The annual event which is in its 7th edition, takes place from October 29 to November 4, and will feature over 20 movies with several Nigerian movies making the headlines.

Some of the films selected from other parts of the world include: The Train of Salt and Sugar which is an Oscar nominated movie, The Wound, Félicité and The Last of Us, Stranger In Paradise and Wùlu among several others.
We shall take a brief look at some of the Nigerian movies to be featured.
Roti talks about a couple that lost their son and four years later they came in contact with a boy that looks like their lost son and they find themselves in a quagmire. The movie is directed by Kunle Afolanya,
Other movies are Hakkunde directed by Asurf Oluseyi, The Lost Café directed by Kenneth Nyang, Potato Potahto, directed by Shirley Frimpong-Manso and  Tatu, directed by Don Omope.
Idemuza talks about a young girl who found herself in a difficult situation and had to end up in the orphanage with her siblings. She continues with her life struggle with the hope that the future will bring something better. Dinner is also a feature directed by Jay Franklyn Jituboh.
According to AFRIFF 2017 final selection, the opening film will be I Am Not A Witch – Rungano Nyoni  and  Waiting For Hassana (Short) –Ifunanya ‘funa’ Maduka, while the closing film will be Felicité – Alain Gomis . Some of the categories are: the short selection, student’s short selection, animation selection, documentary competition, feature film competition, international panorama among
others.
