A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has convicted and sentenced two men – Lucky Christopher and Friday Lenu – to 12 years in prison each for defiling a 10-year-old girl in Eleme Local Government Area.
Delivering judgment on Tuesday, Chief Magistrate Rita Oguguo held that the prosecution successfully proved that the accused raped the underage girl. Oguguo also held that the statement of the victim and the evidence tendered corroborate the statement of the convicts.
The court had heard that before the men were arrested on April 20, 2022, they had raped the little girl on several occasions. They had also threatened to kill her and her aunty if she ever revealed what happened.
The Chief Magistrate convicted the two men to seven years for count one, and five years for count two, totaling twelve years each, which are to run concurrently.
