Presidency: APC BoT member dumps Tinubu, backs Peter Obi

A Board of Trustees (BoT) member of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Prince Benjamin Apugo, has dumped the party.

Apugo, in dumping the APC presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, solicited support for the Labour Party (LP) standard bearer, Mr. Peter Obi.

He vouched for Obi’s integrity, competence and pedigree, which he said put him ahead of other candidates.

The influential Abia State politician made the declaration while briefing journalists in his Ibeku- Umuahia country home at the weekend.

Apugo accused the Muhammadu Buhari administration of neglecting Abia State, saying there is no Federal presence in the State.

“APC has not done anything for Umuahia and Abia State where I come from,” he said.

He stated further that the APC has not lived up to its expectation and should not be voted for in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Apugo took a swipe at some Igbo political elite making uncomplimentary remarks on Obi, describing them as self-centered.

According to him, the candidacy of the former governor of Anambra State has brought respect and honour to the Igbo race.
