* ‘No, our men are there to maintain peace’

The leadership crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) took a new turn on Tuesday, as policemen sealed off it National sScretariat located in the Wuse II area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The order to seal was reportedly given by the Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Adamu, who was also scheduled to meet with the opposing camps of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

According to reports, the IGP gave the order through the FCT Commissioner of Police, to the APC Chief Security Officer, instructing that members of the NWC are not allowed entry into the premises.

However, the Police high command denied media reports that it sealed the APC Secretariat.

The Force explained that the presence of its personnel at the Secretariat was to “maintain peace and ensure there is no breakdown of law and order at the Secretariat” and not for sealing.

“The presence of police personnel at the Secretariat is not to seal-up the Complex as has been reported in some quarters but rather to prevent any untoward situation within and around the APC National Secretariat,” said the police in a statement.
