A 28-year-old man, Yakubu Yusuf, has been arrested for allegedly vandalising aluminum railings on a bridge near the Old School of Nursing, heading towards the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
Officers from the Onikan Police Division reportedly apprehended the suspect on Monday morning.
Reports said that around 6:42am, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Onikan received a tip-off about a group vandalizing the railings.
Acting on the information, the DPO swiftly led the division’s anti-crime patrol team to the scene.
Yusuf was arrested at the site, and 21 long pieces of aluminum railings were recovered.
However, other suspects managed to flee before police could catch them.
The Lagos police command confirmed that an investigation is underway to capture the remaining suspects and reassured the public of their commitment to safeguarding public infrastructure and ensuring security.
