The police in Edo State have arrested a member of Odu’a Peoples’ Congress (OPC), Christian Okagbare (31) over attempted murder of two men namely Charles Osaigbovo and Stanley Iyare.
The suspect was alleged to have committed the offence at the Iyanomo community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area.
The State Commissioner of Police, Nemi Edwin-Iwo, said Osaigbovo Charles and Iyare Stanley, both of the Iyanomo community by Rubber research, Benin-City, reported at the station with various degrees of injuries on their bodies.
“They reported that some OPC members from the same community fired shots at them, which resulted in the injuries sustained without any provocation,” he said.
He said the victims were rushed to the hospital where they were admitted, treated and discharged.
According to him, an investigation by the Anti-Kidnapping unit of the command led to Okagbare’s arrest.
“He confessed to the crime and took the operatives to the spot where he buried the firearm he used in committing the offence,” CP Edwin-Iwo said.
