Police arrest 85 suspects, recover exhibits in FCT raid


The police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have reported meticulously planned raid operation from March 31 to April 4, 2024, targeting identified criminal hideouts and black spots in the Durumi and Dei-Dei areas of Abuja.

These locations had served as havens for criminal elements.

A total of 85 suspects were apprehended during the operation for a variety of offences, including the unlawful erection of structures, drug trafficking, and the production of counterfeit currency.

According to the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, search warrants were executed, leading to the recovery of significant exhibits.

These included counterfeit currencies in both local and foreign denominations, small firearms, eight motorcycles, seven generators, electronic devices, and numerous ATM cards suspected to be linked to theft cases.

SP Adeh further stated that all detained suspects would undergo thorough screening processes, with individuals found to be culpable being subjected to legal proceedings.

Additionally, the illegal structures erected by the criminals were dismantled and incinerated to deter further criminal activity in the area.
Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, affirmed his commitment to eradicating criminal elements from the FCT region, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of all residents.
