Tragedy struck Sunday morning in Abule Ado, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos, following a deafening blast resulting from petrol pipeline explosion.
The blast occurred around 8.56 am. Preceding the blast was a vibration that shook buildings in the immediate and distant neighbourhoods. The severity of the vibration shattered window panes in some building, including that of First Bank, along 23 Road in FESTAC Town.
The resultant fire from the blast reportedly engulfed some houses in the neighbourhood, but the casualty figure could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
It is unclear what caused the explosion, but there are speculations that it may not be unconnected with vandalism.
The blast reportedly frightened worshippers in some churches, making them to flee.
Already, the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), is said to have been notified of the incident. Ditto the Federal Fire Service.
