PDP suspends campaign temporarily, drafts David Mark, Odili, Ibori to pacify Wike

  • Our campaign still on course, Dele Momodu clarifies

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may have temporarily suspended its presidential campaign to resolve its rift with Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike with its standard bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar .

It was gathered that the campaign rally was suspended at the instance of Atiku who, according to party sources, had drafted three prominent PDP stakeholders to mediate in the standoff between him and Wike.

Atiku is reported to have drafted a former Senate President, David Mark; a former Governor of Rivers State, Dr Peter Odili, and a former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori as mediators.

Reports suggest that the campaign was suspended to give the three new “arbitrators” a chance to undertake and conclude their assignment.

However, the party’s Director of Strategic Communications for the Presidential Campaign Council, Dele Momodu, has debunked reports that the party has suspended its campaign over the rift between Atiku Abubakar and Wike.

Momodu described the reports as “absolute falsehood”, adding that the party remains on course with its rallies, and is due to hit Kaduna State next.

“Absolute falsehood…Unlike the APC, which is yet to put its act together, our Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council has taken off at supersonic speed…See you soon in Kaduna by God’s grace,” Momodu said, while also taking a jibe at the ruling APC.
