The Priest of St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church in Kafin-koro, Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State, Rev Father Isaac Achi, has been confirmed dead after terrorists set the Church House ablaze.
The terrorists also shot and injured Fr Achi’s colleague identified as Rev Fr Collins.
Reports say the incident occurred at about 3am on Sunday.
The terrorists were said to have attempted to gain entry into the Catholic Parish House, and while experiencing difficulty in gaining entry, set the Parish House ablaze.
Rev Father Collins, a colleague of Rev. Father Achi, was reportedly shot on the shoulder while trying to escape from the scene.
Niger State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that police tactical teams attached to Kaffin-Koro Division have been drafted to the scene.
The police spokesman, DSP Abiodun Wasiu, said before the police tactical team got to the scene, the terrorists had escaped.
He said that the corpse of Rev Father Achi was recovered while Rev Father Collins was taken to the hospital for treatment.
