The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, has enjoined the Federal government and President Bola Tinubu to expedite action on the establishment of State Police.
Oba Ladoja, a former Governor of Oyo State, noted that this is necessary to address the level of insecurity across the country.
The traditional ruler made the appeal on Monday while receiving participants of Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC) 19, 2026 of the Institute for Security Studies (NISS) Bwari, Abuja.
The event took place at the Olubadan palace located at Oke Aremo in Ibadan North Local Government Area.
According to Solomon Ayoade, the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan, the traditional ruler explained that State Police will complement the efforts of other security agencies.
The Ibadan monarch added that the most serious challenge facing Nigeria at the moment is insecurity.
He, therefore, urged the Federal government not to delay the establishment of State Police.
He said: “I call on the Federal government to expedite action on the establishment of State Police to complement the efforts of other security agencies to ensure the community policing.”
The Director of Studies, Mrs. Ibahim Halimah Zanna, who led the team, appreciated the warm reception accorded them by the traditional ruler despite the short notice for the visit.
She revealed that they are in Oyo State on a one-week study tour.
