Ogun man in police net over death of married woman in his apartment


The police in Ogun State have detained a 65-year-old man identified as Olalekan Ogunjobi after a woman died at his home in the Ago-Iwoye community.

Reports said the deceased woman, Serifatu Disu, 60, left her husband’s house to visit Ogunjobi in his flat at Konigba’s Fatimoh Castle.

Although the specifics of their relationship are not yet unknown, the police have established that the incident occurred at about 12:40am on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

Unconfirmed report said that the late Serifatu had complained of chest pain before she passed out shortly after leaving the room.

Thereafter, she reportedly lost consciousness and breathed her last, as Ogunjobi tried to resuscitate her.

Spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, said the Divisional Police Officer of Ago-Iwoye was immediately alerted, and he rushed to the scene.

“Olalekan Ogunjobi, a 65-year-old resident of Fatimoh Castle, Konigba, Ago-Iwoye, stated that Serifatu Disu, a 60-year-old woman and a friend of his, left her husband’s home to visit him late at night. Around 12:40am., she began complaining of chest pain. Shortly after stepping outside, she collapsed and lost consciousness. Despite efforts to revive her, they were unsuccessful,” Odutola explained.

She also said that Ogunjobi is being held for interrogation, adding that the Ago-Iwoye Division’s Crime branch has launched an investigation into the incident

The late Serifatu’s body has tken to the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy, the police said.

“We have visited the scene, and the body has been taken to the General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode, where it will be moved to the mortuary for an autopsy. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available,” Odutola added.
