Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), at the weekend, raided a building in the highbrow Victoria Garden City (VGC) estate in Lagos, and discovered an illicit drug laboratory.
Confirming the raid, the VGC Estate management, in a memo, said: “NDLEA operatives had been on the trail of the occupant of the property (names withheld by us) since 2017.
“On Saturday, July 30, the anti-drug agency carried out a sting operation and was able to arrest the occupant and his wife.
“NDLEA says the boreholes and water supply located 500 meters from the raided building have been contaminated by the waste generated from the Laboratory.
“Therefore, VGCPORA, in conjunction with NDLEA, conducted a test on water supply to property around the K-5/A2, Road 14.”
The estate management, however, reiterated its commitment to ensuring a drug-free environment for residents.
“Alcohol and drugs misuse poses a threat to the health and safety of VGC and to the security of the community.
“We request that you join hands with us to make VGC a drug-free community. If you see something, say something,” the management said in the memo.
