A former senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has said Nigerians are so exhausted with the country’s situation to the extent that N50 per litre reduction in petrol price will not make any impact in their lives.
Sani was on Thursday, through his X account, reacting to Dangote’s announcement of a reduction in its ex-depot petrol price to N899.50 per litre.
He wrote: ‘”People are so exhausted, even if petrol is reduced by N50, they just look and move on,” he stated.
Prior to the latest price slash, Dangote had earlier reduced its ex-depot petrol price to N970 per litre last month.
In the last seven days, petrol retailers have announced piecemeal reductions in fuel prices.
First, it was the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, which slashed petrol by N20 to N10.40 per litre.
Dangote Refinery ad earlier announced that petrol will now be sold at a price below N900 per litre to provide Nigerians with much-needed relief ahead of the holiday season. This latest reduction comes after the refinery had previously lowered the price to N970 per litre on November 24. The move aims to ease transportation costs during the festive period.
The Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, Mr. Anthony Chiejina, highlighted an additional special offer designed to benefit consumers further. “To alleviate transport costs during this holiday season, Dangote Refinery is offering a holiday discount on PMS. From today, our petrol will be available at N899.50 per litre at our truck loading gantry or Single Point Mooring (SPM). Moreover, for every litre purchased on a cash basis, consumers can buy an additional litre on credit, supported by a bank guarantee from Access Bank, First Bank, or Zenith Bank,” Chiejina added.
