Middle East war: US asks citizens to leave Saudi Arabia

The United States has advised its citizens in Saudi Arabia to consider leaving the country as tensions continue across the Middle East.

The warning was issued in a statement by the U.S. Mission in Saudi Arabia, which said authorities are closely monitoring the situation and remain committed to the safety of American nationals.

According to the mission, the U.S. government is providing updated information to help citizens make informed decisions about their safety and possible departure from the region, stressing that protecting Americans remains its top priority.

Citizens were urged to regularly check their emails for updates and any last-minute changes as the situation evolves.

The advisory also warned that those who choose not to leave should be prepared to shelter in place in a secure location, with adequate supplies of food, water, medications, and other essentials, while remaining alert and following instructions from local authorities and U.S. diplomatic missions.

The mission further encouraged Americans to take advantage of available commercial flights to leave Saudi Arabia safely and securely. It noted that while the country’s airspace remains open, there are frequent restrictions due to ongoing missile and drone threats.

It added that major airports in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam are still operational, but travelers should confirm flight details with airlines due to possible delays or cancellations.

“We are monitoring the situation in the Middle East closely and will keep you updated so you can make decisions about your safety. If you want to leave the Middle East, the U.S. government is ready to assist by providing you the latest information about the departure options available. President Trump, Secretary of State Rubio, and the Department of State have no higher priority than the safety and security of American citizens.
