The police in Adamawa State have arrested a man who climbed a 330KV high tension tower along the Yola-Jalingo highway, demanding President Bola Tinubu’s resignation.
Reports said the incident happened in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, between the morning of Friday September 27 and evening of Saturday, September 28.
The Police spokesman in the State, SP Suleiman Nguruje, said the man, whose name was not revealed, was rescued on Saturday night and taken into protective custody in Yola.
Reports further said before his rescue, the man had remained up the tower, insisting that Tinubu must resign before he would come down.
“The Command is going to parade the man on Monday for attempting suicide,” Nguroje said, adding that attempting suicide is a criminal offence under Nigeria’s constitution.
“We are going to charge him to court,” Nguroje said.
He added that the police have a duty to protect lives and property, warning anyone that attempts to take his or her life will be made to face the law.
