Lockdown: On Wike’s orders, bulldozers demolish two defaulting hotels in Rivers

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has carried out his threat of demolishing Prodest (Prudent) Hotel at Alode, in Eleme Local Government Area of the State.

He personally supervised the demolition exercise.

The governor had marked ‘Prudent’ Hotel, Alode, Eleme and Etemeteh Hotel, Onne for demolition for allegedly flouting the government’s directive on the closure of hotels in the State.

He had declared a total lockdown on the two major cities – Obio-Akpor and Port Harcourt City local government areas – in the effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Rivers State.

Interstate borders, markets, pubs, restaurants and hotels were also closed by the governor.
