- To benefit from FG’s relief programme
The Transition Committee Chairman of Arochukwu Local Government Area, Mazi Emmanuel Kanu, has commenced the process of collating relevant data, which will aid vulnerable households in the council receive the Federal government’s food relief package.
Back from the Government House Umuahia on Tuesday, Kanu collected forms for distribution to the five clans in the council. The other 16 TC chairmen also reportedly collected theirs
Already in Arochukwu, the forms are being shared to the village heads, who will in turn share them to compound heads, to identify and collate the personal data of vulnerable households, and return the forms as soon as possible.
Information required to be captured are: names, gender, age, and nature of vulnerability.
The programme is the brainchild of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), being executed through the Abia State government, aimed at mitigating the pangs of the lock down occasioned by the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The TC Chairman has urged recipients of the forms to expedite action and return them as quickly as possible.
Abia State has not recorded any coronavirus case, but the government had ordered a one-week lock down, which has just been extended by another week.
