* Justify action; say torched shanties warehoused illegal arms
Contrary to reports that fire razed down parts of the Alaba International Market in the Ojo part of Lagos, the State Police Command has said only shanties around the market were burnt down in an exercise by its officers from the Ojo Division.
Policemen attached to Ojo Division set shanties on fire after raiding the vicinity, arresting suspects and recovering arms and ammunition.
According to the spokesman of State police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, debunked the narrative of the fire outbreak, saying: “This is a false narrative! Acting on credible information, police officers from Ojo Division raided shanties around the market, arrested suspected criminals and recovered some weapons. The shanties were thereafter set on fire.”
