JUST IN: Senator Ayogu Eze is dead

A former spokesman of the Senate and Enugu State politician, Senator Ayogu Eze, is dead.

He was 65 years old at his last birthday on November 23, 2023.

The Senator had been nursing a protracted illness related to stroke, and he finally passed away at the Abuja Hospital, on Thursday, April 25, 2024.

As a Senator, the former News Editor of The Guardian and later Editor of Guardian Express newspapers, represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

His death has since been confirmed on The Guardian’s platform, by an Alumnus who wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that I bring the house this sad news: our friend, colleague and brother on this platform, Senator Ayogu Eze is no more.

“(He) died this morning following complications from stroke.

“May his soul find rest in the Lord’s bosom through Christ our Lord. Amen.

“A formal announcement will be made by the family later.”

The Senator of the Federal Republic was elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to represent the Enugu North Senatorial District of Enugu State in 2007 and won a second term that terminated in 2015.

He would later cross carpet to the All Progressives Congress, APC, and was appointed a member of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission (RMFAC).

Also, he emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general elections.
