A policeman, on Wednesday afternoon, was reportedly killed at Cele bus stop along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos, during a duel with commercial motorcycle aka Okada riders.
Unconfirmed reports also claimed that the irate Okada riders carted away three rifles from police operatives.
Shortly after the officer was murdered, the Okada riders, numbering about 100, reportedly ran towards Mile 2 axis of the expressway, with some brandishing cutlasses, daggers, big sticks and other weapons.
They menacingly charged at passersby and motorists, as several took to their heels to avoid being attacked by the armed motorcyclists.
A detachment of combat-ready policemen, in what seemed a reinforcement, later arrived at the scene to combat the Okada riders.
The officers, in about six vehicles, chased the Okada riders towards the Mile 2 end.
