Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, on Monday in Benin City, emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In the direct primary held throughout the192 wards of the State, Ize-Iyamu scored 27,838 votes to defeat his closest rival, former deputy governor, Dr Pius Odubu, who polled 3,766 votes.
A former chairman of Oredo Local Government Area, Mr Osaro Obaze scored 2,744.
With the result, Ize-Iyamu will face other contenders in the September 19 governorship election in the State.
