Leaderships of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have threatened to embark on a fresh industrial action over worsening insecurity in the country.
The two labour unions issued the warning during a joint media briefing on the sidelines of the ongoing 114th International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland.
They said if the worsening wave of terrorism, banditry and kidnappings across the country continues unabated, they will embark on a comprehensive strike.
On national minimum wage, the labour unions dismissed claims by some State governors that negotiations are ongoing with a view to approving N100,000 minimum wage for workers.
They insisted that such assertions do not reflect the current realities of discussions on workers’ welfare.
Insecurity has increased across the country in recent times with the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State as the latest incident.
