The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has expressed regret for ever admitting Owelle Rochas Okorocha into its fold, vowing that the governor will never smell the ranks of the party again.
The party’s public disclaimer on Okorocha came on the heels of speculations in the social media that the governor, having lost out in his All Progressives Congress (APC), has been given a soft landing in APGA.
Indeed APGA’s resolve on Okorocha was contained in a statement by its Vice Chairman, Owerri Zone, Chief Rowlands, on behalf of the State Chairman, Barr. Peter Ezeobi. It reads:
“The attention of the leadership of APGA Imo State chapter led by Barrister Peter Ezeobi (KSM) has been drawn to the false news and distracting propaganda making rounds in Imo State and its environs saying that the leadership of APGA Imo State chapter has accepted and re-admitted the estranged Rochas Okorocha, an APC governor of Imo State, into our great party, APGA Imo State.
“On behalf of our APGA Imo State chapter Chairman, Barrister Peter Ezeobi (KSM), I, Chief Rowlands, State Vice Chairman, APGA Imo State, Owerri Zone, wish to say categorically that there is no iota of truth in this news and propaganda. “It is absolutely false from the pit of hell. This is a clear handiwork of the opposition to degrade the rising positive profile of APGA Imo State chapter and APGA in Nigeria generally. We wish to use this medium to urge all well meaning imolites and good people of Imo State and Nigeria in general to disregard this false and unfounded news making round in the social media.
“APGA worldwide has unflinching fate and confidence on APGA National leadership being led by Dr Victor Ikechukwu Oye, APGA National Chairman and the State Chairman Imo APGA, Barrister Peter Ezeobi (KSM), men with divine mandate to lead APGA Imo State and APGA Nigeria to the Promised land. They are not men that can be distracted by the antics of the opposition and have lived above board to be lured with oratory of a sinking politician with horrifying bad political baggage.
“APGA has not accepted Rochas back to the party and is not ready to do so considering what Rochas did to the party and all his negative remarks against the party when he left to APC.
“It was a mistake having him at the first instance, and APGA will not make the mistake the second time.
“APGA Imo State is poised to reclaiming her mandate of governorship of Imo State come 2019. The flag of APGA will fly in the entire Imo State come 2019.
“Kindly disregard the false news of the rejected and desperate Rochas who is already retired politically by his party APC Imo State, and who is seeking for where to take shelter peddling this false news of being re-admitted into APGA. He is just flying a kite to the public…”
