A housewife, Amina Suleiman, has requested an Ilorin Area Court to dissolve her seven- year-old marriage because her husband cannot afford her underwear.
Testifying before the court, Amina also said her husband, Ibrahim Babaoja has refused to take proper care of her and their family.
According to Amina, she had been shouldering the responsibility of taking care of the family and it has become unbearable for her.
According to her: “Our marriage is blessed with two children, but to eat in the house is a problem.
“He will not pay the children’s school fees; he cannot even afford to give me money to buy underwears.
“There is always chaos in the house and I can no longer bear it or tolerate his attitude and lack of care. I pray the court to put an end to this marriage.”
Babaoja, was, however, not present in court to respond to the allegations against him.
After listening to her testimony, the presiding judge, Mr. Abdul Quadri, said Babaoja had earlier sent a letter consenting to the dissolution of the marriage.
Consequently, the judge ordered the dissolution of the marriage on the ground that both parties had agreed to it.
