An early morning fire has razed the only market in Trademore Estate, Lugbe, Abuja.
The fire is said to have started at about 3.30 am when Abuja Electric Distribution Company (AEDC) restored electricity.
However, the exact cause is yet to be ascertained.
It was not immediately certain what was destroyed in the fire as at time of filing this report.
Two hours after the fire started, men of the Federal Fire Service from EFCC and Sauka Station were finally able to extinguish it.
Similarly in Ibadan, an early morning fire razed 17 shops and destroyed property worth millions of Naira at the Moniya Market in the Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The General Manager, Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Ibadan.
He said the agency received a distress call about the fire incident from one Mr. Adelola at 12:27am on Monday, and immediately deployed personnel to the scene.
He added that the fire had affected rows of shops and container shops at the garage by the time the fire fighters arrived at the scene.
Akinyinka said: “The fire incident was reported to the agency at exactly 00:27hours by one Mr. Adelola, that there were shops on fire at Moniya Garage, Oja Agbe, Ibadan.
“Immediately, the personnel of this agency led by ACFS Oyedeji, was deployed to the scene of the incident.
“We swiftly swung into action and we were able to curtail the fire and restricted it from spreading to all nearby shops and other properties.”
