* Sidelines RCCG City of David Parish
The family of the late former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe, has announced arrangements for his burial rites.
Wigwe, his wife Chizoba, and their first son Chizi died in a helicopter crash on February 9, 2024, in California, United States.
Others who were on board with them and didn’t survive the crash were Abimbola Ogunbanjo, a former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group PLC, as well as the two pilots.
According to the funeral announcement, the Wigwe family will begin with a celebration of the professional legacy of the former GCEO of Access Holdings at the Eko Hotel in Lagos on March 4, and end with an outing service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Lion of Judah Parish, Isiokpo, Ikwerre LGA, Rivers, on March 10.
The lives of Chizi and Chizoba will be celebrated in separate ceremonies scheduled for March 5 at the Eko Hotel in Lagos, before a night of tribute a day later at the same venue.
A combined service of songs will be held on March 7 at the RCCG, Resurrection Parish, Lekki, followed by a Christian wake at Wigwe University, Isiokpo, Ikwerre LGA, Rivers State.
The combined funeral and private interment service are scheduled for March 9.
The City of David parish of the RCCG is conspicuously missing from the burial programme, apparently after the senior pastor’s wife Siju Iluyoma held a talk-of-the-town birthday party about two weeks after the death of Wigwe, his wife and son.
Not a few argued that the cleric’s wife – who was like a spiritual mother to the Wigwes – should have exercised discretion by postponing her birthday party due to the unfortunate incident that happened to the trio who were prominent members of their Church.
