ESPN ranks Osimhen among world’s top 10 strikers

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has been named among the world’s top 10 strikers after ESPN ranked the Nigerian forward ninth in its latest assessment of the best centre-forwards in world football.

The recognition further underlines Osimhen’s status as one of the most dangerous attacking players in Europe, despite a campaign in which injuries and international commitments restricted his appearances for Galatasaray.

The Nigerian has become a key figure at the Turkish club since making the move to Istanbul and has played an important role in Galatasaray’s recent domestic success.

Osimhen’s ninth-place ranking puts him in the company of some of the biggest names in world football.

Bayern Munich and England striker, Harry Kane, occupies the top position, while Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are also ranked above the Nigerian.

Chelsea forward Joao Pedro is seventh, while Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike is positioned 10th, immediately behind Osimhen.

The ranking reflects the Nigerian’s ability to consistently threaten opposition defences through his pace, strength, movement and finishing.

One of the strongest aspects of his game is his willingness to create shooting opportunities, rather than simply waiting for chances to arrive.

Osimhen has averaged at least four shots per 90 minutes over five consecutive seasons, demonstrating his regular involvement in attacking situations.
