Edo Poll: Wike ‘quarantined’ in Benin City, as MOPOL seal off hotel

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has allegedly been ‘quarantined’ in a hotel room in Benin City with some mobile policemen keeping reportedly keeping vigil in the vicinity.

His dilemma is coming less than 24 hours to the Edo State governorship election in which his party member and sitting governor, Godwin Obaseki, is seeking re-election.

Unconfirmed reports say no fewer than 400 policemen are laying siege at his hotel in the Government Reservation Area (GRA) of the capital, Benin.

Political analysts suggested that Wike’s sequestration may not be unconnected with alleged plot by the bigwigs of All Progressives Congress (APC) to checkmate him, and by extension his influence in the politics of the South-South region, Edo State inclusive.
