Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has commended the people of the State for re-electing him during the Saturday election, in which he sought a second term in office.
Reacting to the result of the election, Obaseki in a tweet described his victory ia a reward for his hard work.
He wrote: I have just received the results sheet of the Edo governorship election from@inecnigeria, which provides details of the polls cast on Saturday. I appreciate Edo people for their support and unflinching resolve to reward our hard work. Congratulations to all of us once more!
The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) on Sunday declared Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the winner of the election, thereby returning as a two-term governor.
He defeated his main rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Obaseki polled 307,955 votes against Ize-Iyamu’s 223,619 votes.
