Drama as INEC official struggles to serve Sen Melaye recall notice

The battle to recall Senator Dino Melaye from the National Assembly has assumed a dramatic twist.

At the resumption of session Tuesday, the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district reportedly rushed out of the Chamber and went straight to his car which was already waiting at exactly 1:50pm.

This, according to reports, was interpreted as a bid to evade being served the recall notice by INEC officials.

It would seem that some workers were privy to the presence of INEC officials and their mission, hence they stood by to watch the anticipated drama.

Said an eyewitness: “The speed with which the lawmaker came out of session attracted the crowd that had gathered to see the turn of events.”

An official of INEC identified as Nura Mohammed was seen with an envelope trying to get Senator Melaye’s attention at a point he was entering his car, but failed to hand him the document.

No INEC official was willing to speak on the matter.
