Super Eagle players have been asked to dedicate their Russia World Cup
qualification to team mate who is battling acute-leukaemia.
According to sports pundit and broadcaster Segun Agede, Ikeme’s heroic saves
in Nigeria’s first game against Zambia in Ndola which they won 2-1 raised the confidence of the Eagles and this became evident in their subsequent matches.
He, however, advised the Nigerian Football Federation to arrange proper grade A matches for the Eagles as that will help the Technical Adviser Geirnard Rohr correct some of the lapses in the team which was obvious in the 1-0 win over Zambia in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, last week.
He wondered why coach Rohr kept including Michael Agu in the team even when he has not contributed anything significant while leaving out John Ogu whom he said has been superb in his team in Israel.
On his part, ace sports broadcaster Charles Anazodo, disagrees with
some Nigerians who claim that Alex Iwobi was the hero of the match just
because he scored the only goal of the match. He said the victory was
a collective effort, therefore the entire team should be applauded for the feat. According to him, the Zambia goal scored during the first half which was disallowed by the referee was a legitimate goal.
In a similar development, the President of NFF, Amaju Melvin Pinnick disclosed that the Federation has been getting calls and also
making contacts to get some quality friendly matches for the Super Eagles during the FIFA window.
