The death toll from the cholera outbreak in Ndibokote village, Ezza-Inyimegu community, Izzi Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi State, has reached 15.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Moses Ekuma, confirmed this on Friday in Abakiliki.
He said three emergency centres have been designated for the treatment of cholera patients in the State.
On his part, the Chairman of Izzi LGA, Mr. Steven Nwankpa, warned the people of the affected community to desist from open defecation practice and other unhygienic lifestyle.
Nwankpa issued the warning while monitoring the extent of the epidemic in the community.
He said: “The number of death has risen to 15 since Wednesday when the epidemic broke out in the Ndibokote Village in Ezza-Inyimegu Community.”
“Ensure that you maintain proper personal hygiene.”
