A Kaduna State High Court sitting in Kafanchan has ordered a farmer, Timothy Ayock, to be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly raping a widow.
Ayock is standing trial on two counts of rape and criminal force, in violation of sections 257 and 237 of the Kaduna State Penalty Code Law, 2017.
The State counsel from the Ministry of Justice, Daniel Isah, told the court that the defendant, on December 26, 2025, had forceful carnal knowledge of a 70-year-old widow at Tagama community, in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
When the charges were ready to him, he pleaded not guilty to them.
The prosecutor, thereafter, prayed the court for an adjournment to enable the State prove its case against the defendant.
In his ruling, the presiding judge, Michael Eugene, ordered the defendant to be remanded at the Kafanchan correctional centre.
Eugene adjourned the matter until March 5 for hearing.
