Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has condoled with families of victims of the church shooting at Ozubulu on Sunday morning, which resulted in the death of several members.
The Ozubulu community in Ekwusigo Local Government Area was jolted on Sunday morning, following the invasion of Saint Philip’s Catholic Church by gunmen who opened fire on the worshippers killing several.
Governor Obiano visited the scene to see things for himself, as well as sympathize with the people.
Speaking at the Church premises, Obiano revealed that preliminary security investigations showed that the shooting was caused by a feud between two brothers from the community living abroad.
“This is sacrilegious, totally unacceptable in Anambra State,” the governor said.
He asked the people to go about their businesses without fear or panic, noting that this isolated case of security breech must be followed to the root and all the perpetrators brought to justice.
“We can’t allow this happen in Anambra, we must get everyone involved to face the music,” the governor vowed
The governor also visited Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, where the injured are being treated.
He thanked the over 50 doctors he met looking after the injured, while assuring the affected families that all medical bills will be paid by the State.
