The Chicago State University (CSU) has put its X (formerly known as Twitter) handle on private.
While the institution has not issued any statement to explain its action, reports say the development may not be unconnected to multiple inquiries and attacks over the controversy surrounding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s certificate, which is now a subject of litigation in a United States law court.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections in Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, had approached a United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, seeking details of Tinubu’s academic records at the CSU.
Atiku had subpoenaed the CSU to make Tinubu’s academic records available for his access, believing that such discoveries would shed more light on the controversies surrounding the President’s academic records.
However, amid several attacks and multiple inquiries by Nigerians, the CSU, on Tuesday, restricted access to its X page.
The page, which was formerly Public, had been changed to Private with the remark: “These posts are protected. Only confirmed followers have access to @ChicagoState’s posts and complete profile. Tap the Follow button to send a follow request.”
