Buhari, Osinbajo, presidential candidates, cast ballots as voting gets underway nationwide

President Muhammadu Buhari, earlier today, voted at his polling unit 003, Sarkin Yarn ‘A’ ward in Daura, Katsina State.

Buhari voted alongside Aisha, his wife around 10:06 am.

After thumb-printing, the president showed off his ballot papers to the voters around.

Speaking after voting, Buhari asked Nigerians to freely vote for their preferred candidates.

The president said he believes that his constituency would choose his party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Osinbajo, wife Dolapo vote in Ikenne, Ogun

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo voted at Polling Unit 14, Egunrege, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Osinbajo and wife arrived at the unit at 9:54a.m; got successfully verified by the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS)  at 9:58 a.m. and voted at 10am.

Speaking with newsmen shortly voting, Osinbajo said he is impressed with the conduct of the exercise at the unit.

He expressed optimism that the orderly conduct at the unit would be replicated across the country.

No fewer than 133 voters are expected to exercise their franchise at the polling unit.

Tinubu, wife Oluremi vote in Ikoyi, Lagos

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, cast his ballot at a polling unit on Bourdillion Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Tinubu voted alongside his wife Oluremi, and other party chieftains.

Addressing journalist after casting his ballot, Tinubu said: “Democracy is here to stay in Nigeria, adding that he is “too confident of victory”.

He said the voting process is “going smoothly” and “going well”.

On the turnout of voters, the APC candidate said: “This is expected; we need a good turnout and that is the adoption and the commitment to democracy and the democratic process must take place.”

Asked how certain of victory he is, Tinubu responded: “I’m too certain.”

Atiku, wife Titi vote in Adamawa

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, cast his ballot in his Yola hometown of Adamawa State.

He exercised his civic duty at Ajiya 02, in Gwadabawa Ward, Yola North Local Government Area.

Speaking after performing his civic duty, the former vice president expressed optimism that the process will be hassle-free for voters.

He said the process was simple and straightforward, adding that he cast his ballit without ambiguity.

Atiku expressed confidence of succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari as elected president of Nigeria.

Obi, wife Margaret vote in Agulu, Anambra

The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi cast his ballot at polling unit 19 in the Agulu area of the Aniocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Obi and his wife Margaret cast their ballots around 11:45am after following the voting queue for about 30 minutes.

As with other candidates, Obi commended the process, expressing confidence of victory at the close of the elections.

Kwankwaso votes in Kano

The New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, cast his ballot at his polling unit in Kano State.
