Buhari orders immediate response to Benue flood disaster

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to immediately respond to the flood disaster in Benue State, which has reportedly rendered over 100,000 persons homeless.

The president said he received with great concern reports of the flooding in the state, which wreaked havoc in 12 local government areas.

Buhari directed NEMA officials to immediately mobilize personnel and resources to come to assist victims of the flooding.

“The President extends his sympathies to the Government and people of Benue State, and assures that the Federal Government will make available any assistance needed to enable the State Government and the affected communities cope with and surmount the impact of the flooding,” he added.
