The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters along Owerri-Port Harcourt road in Imo State, on Monday morning, came under heavy bombardment by suspected gunmen.
Reports said the hoodlums threw explosives through the commission’s fence, destroying some offices and vehicles parked in the premises.
However, the police stationed at the INEC office reportedly engaged the gunmen in a fierce shootout, leaving three of the invaders wearing charms and separatist camouflages dead.
The INEC Public Relations Officer, Dr. Chinenye Chijioke-Osuji, confirmed the attack.
